Coloured Thermowood for Heradsbygda Care Centre
Heradsbygda Care Centre comprises 64 round-the-clock staffed care homes across 8 departments of 8 residents each. It also houses a day activity centre and offices for the home care service in Hønefoss. Three outdoor spaces with planted garden areas adjoin the centre.
Project development focused on environmental and energy efficiency, and on producing a reliable building with low maintenance needs and low running costs. Geothermal heating and rooftop solar installations provide heat.
Heradsbygda Care Centre is built to passive house standard and certified under BREEAM-NOR. Material choices are based on the centre feeling like a home for its residents, resulting in exposed solid timber elements indoors.
Factory-patinated coloured Thermowood pine external cladding was supplied to the almost 9,800 m² care centre.
