Coloured Thermowood for Egge School
Egge School is a modern school building with a clear use of materials and a warm, distinctive colour palette. The project-specific yellow colour was developed in close collaboration with the architect. “The colour is inspired by barns and other farm buildings in the area,” says Lars Haugen, senior architect at AFRY Ark Studio, to Byggeindustrien.
The yellow hue gives the building a clear identity and a recognisable presence within the local community, while also connecting it to the area’s agrarian history and surrounding landscape. By drawing the colour choice from traditional farm buildings, a natural link is created between the school’s architecture and the area’s cultural heritage, giving Egge School a warm and welcoming character for both students and visitors.
