Fire-retardant cedar for Moxy Hotel Bergen
Moxy Bergen is a modern lifestyle hotel at Bryggen, opened in 2021. It plays on the contrast between vibrant city life and beautiful fjord views, with a focus on sustainability, social interaction and thoughtful design. The hotel is BREEAM Excellent and Green Key certified – placing it among the top environmentally friendly buildings in Norway. It is clad in pre-patinated cedar, creating fine contrasts in the material palette, especially alongside the façade materials of the neighbouring Skipet building.
Fire-retardant Western Red Cedar with a factory-patinated surface was supplied. This has helped create a warm, durable façade suited to both the maritime environment and the project’s high environmental standards.
