Interior veneer for Klimahuset in Oslo

Klimahuset at the Natural History Museum in the Botanical Garden is a zero-emission building under the Zero Emission Buildings criteria, located at Tøyen in Oslo.

Through climate-friendly solutions, Klimahuset is intended as a meeting place and exhibition building conveying research-based knowledge about climate and climate change.

The striking architecture and use of materials underline the environmental focus, also reflected in the extensive use of timber for both façade and interior cladding. The choice of materials is meant to strengthen the connection to the garden.

The building is constructed with a glulam load-bearing system. Alongside a high proportion of timber, low-carbon concrete and solar panels are used in combination with district heating and a hybrid ventilation solution, so that Klimahuset produces more energy than it consumes annually.

Birch interior veneer with pine face veneer was supplied to Klimahuset at Tøyen in Oslo.
