Coloured Thermowood for Vervet Kindergarten
Vervet Kindergarten is part of the new Vervet urban development area in Tromsø. The building has a clear, warm use of materials that creates a safe and pleasant environment for children and staff. The façade is executed in timber, giving the building a warm, welcoming character that softens the surrounding urban context and ties the kindergarten to its natural setting.
The choice of materials extends throughout the building, with wood featured extensively both inside and out, creating a tactile, sensory-rich environment that supports children’s play and curiosity. Large windows let in generous daylight, while the building’s scale and articulation are carefully adapted to a child’s perspective, fostering a sense of security and belonging. Together, these qualities make Vervet Kindergarten a welcoming, robust, and inviting place to grow up, one that reflects the ambitions of the wider Vervet development for high-quality, human-centered architecture in Tromsø.
